Day 2

What a difference a day makes. We woke to the sun shining and the wind behaving. That set us in a better mood straight away. We had breakfast at 7.30 and impressed each other by avoiding the bacon and eggs and opting for fruit, yoghurt and muesli. We checked out at 9am and spent some time checking the bikes over and warming up around the carpark.

We set off at a great pace through Evesham, averaging 19mph but that was short lived. After only 4 miles a warning light came up on the van. Obviously our pace was too much for it. Problem sorted, we set off again and made good time arriving at Quedgeley store just south of Gloucester at just before midday. We had a great reception from the store manager and community champion who greeted us with fruit and drinks. We had our obligatory photos at the front of store with a group of staff and stayed for half an hour or so before leaving with some very generous packed lunches.

I took a quick spin around the carpark to warm up. When i got back Karl had managed to drop his front wheel down a drain and get a puncture. Samsge repaired, we rode for an hour before a quick lunch stop and then pressing on for the hotel. We arrived safely and checked in. We did give in to the temptations of the bar with a swift libation before getting the aches and pains attended to.

The rooms were too small for the massage table so we set up in the carpark. I had a very intense and painful massage on my achilles in the sunshine laying next to a skip. All in all we had a good day. Tomorrow is another DC in another country. We await the Welsh hospitality.
